Welcome to the online publication of the Louisiana Directory of Research Centers, which is intended to serve as a comprehensive listing of research centers and established research programs covering a wide range of disciplines that are connected with universities in Louisiana. The directory contains pertinent information about the centers- including their mission, expertise, projects, capabilites, facilities, equipment, staff and budget. It features a searchable database which, when provided with a keyword denoting a specific area of research, will retrieve a list of all research centers contained in the directory that perform research in the specified area. It also provides a direct link to the home page of each center with a website. This project was a joint initiative sponsored by the Board of Regents and Department of Economic Development.
The purpose of the directory is to promote awareness of the extensive array of diverse research facilities and expertise available at our universities throughout the state and to highlight the cutting-edge research and innovative projects in which the scientific community is engaged. By disseminating this information, we hope to achieve the following objectives:
The overall goal in achieving these objectives of forging new alliances between the business and academic sectors and facilitating technology transfer is to advance economic development and diversification of the economy in Louisiana.
The Louisiana Directory of Research Centers will be an ongoing project that is continually updated and refined. As the directory was designed to be as comprehensive as possible, the inclusion of newly created or additional centers which are not currently listed is encouraged.
