Research Areas:

The goal of the forestry and wildlife research programs is to solve problems that affect the scientific management and wise use of forest resources in Louisiana and the southeastern United States. All faculty hold the Ph.D. degree in their respective field of forestry. On-going research projects include industrial development, forestry inventory analysis, maintenance of forest productivity, plant medicinal, forest protection, forest ecosystem management, hardwood and pine silviculture, and wildlife management and ecology.

Areas of Expertise:

Genetics, hardwood silviculture; pine silviculture; GIS, GPS, and remote sensing wood products; wood technology; soil water; forest soils; growth and yield; forest ecology; and wildlife management

Special Capabilities and Facilities:

Wild turkey trapping/tagging program; forestry and wood utilization research; ecological and vegetation management studies; and afforestation/carbon sequestration plantations.
