Research Areas:

To develop and carry out coordinated programs in teaching, research and public service for the ultimate benefit of citizens of Louisiana and the nation. Ongoing research projects include: development of new processes and technologies for the processing of poultry products; identifying mechanisms of egg cholesterol deposition in laying hens; hatching and management of young ostriches in Louisiana; and "Are the major histocompatibility complex (mhc) genes in turkeys involved in disease?"

Areas of Expertise:

The mission is accomplished through an orientation that includes research with gallinaceous birds and educational programs for individuals interested in these species.
