Research Areas:

Diverse aspects of French and Francophone cultures, transcultural exchanges involving the uses of language, the production and interpretation of literatures, the formation and intermixing of cultures. Specific areas of inquiry include: -- the uses of the French language in francophone areas of the world, France, Belgium, Canada, and of French and French based creoles in Louisiana, the Caribbean, and Africa; --French and colonial world; --multilingualism and translation, as means of transcultural communication; --the teaching of French language and Francophone cultures in Louisiana and Throughout the world; --study of the formation and circulation of francophone cultures and their interaction and mixing (metissage or creolisation) with other cultures, as local and global phenomena.
