Research Areas:

Development of new poison antidotes and evaluation of the efficacy of current poisoning treatments. Additional areas include statis tical and demographical analysis of poisoning exposure utilization of computer and telephone technology to enhance medical call center services.

Drug and poison information and recommendations for treating poison exposures.

Special Capabilities and Facilities:
The Louisiana Drug and Poison Information Center occupies a 3,000 sq. ft. office suite that houses highly computerized drug and poison informational databases.

Research Equipment:

Wide variety of analytical, robotic, and computerized equipment for basic science research. Additional equipment includes a comprehensive computer network for statistical analysis.
