Research Areas:

The FPSSRC provides Southeastern Louisiana University and communities in Louisiana's Florida parishes with a broad-based, nonpartisan social science research facility, for addressing a wide range of political and social research needs. The Center also provides SLU students exposure to the ethical and scientific issues, as well as the practicalities involved in the operation of social science research. The data produced by the FPSSRC is available for use by faculty and students of SLU and interested community members.
FPSSRC is sponsored by the Department of History and Government and Sociology and Criminal Justice. The Directors of the Center are licensed pollsters by the state of Louisiana.

Special Capabilities and Facilities:

FPSSRC has an experienced staff in survey management. It also offers students a computer laboratory with up-to-date software applications to help them market their social science research skills upon graduation. The 20-station phone bank is available with a computer-assisted telephone interviewing portable multi-media computer station, mapping with Arc view mapping software, and digital cameras.

Research Equipment:

The lab includes 25 networked computers, replaced every three years, and all standard software: MS Office, Correl, SPSS and Arcview Mapping applications
