Research Areas:

The mission is to provide the state of Louisiana and its industries a resource base for help in the area of corrosion. This is done by teaching industry personnel, graduate students and performing research.
Ongoing projects include:
Development of a Windows' based model of the USL program for predicting tubing life in gas wells and oil wells
Determination of anodic well behavior by using a scanning reference electrode
Downhole pH calculations including organic acids
Ion implantation for corrosion resistance
Application of cathodic protection to highway steel culverts

Areas of Expertise:

Corrosion Modeling
Electrochemical Testing
Failure Analysis

Special Capabilities and Facilities:

Numerous faculty who are available from other sectors of the university.

Research Equipment:

("s" indicates shared equipment)
Four electrochemical systems - EE&G and Solartron
Scanning electron microscope with KEVIX(s)
Metallurgical laboratory
Ion Implantation System(s)
